Inside the DMZ, there is the Joint Security Area ( JSA ) which has provided a place for negotiations between the North and South since 1953 and within that area, Panmunjeom stands as the main building. The JSA was established as the negotiating site between North Korea and the United Nations Command (UNC) and is now used for diplomatic dialogue by the two Koreas.
